What are your liminal spaces?

Where are Your Liminal Spaces?

I learned the word liminal in early 2021. I was immediately drawn into a curious deep dive into the world of in-betweens. I quickly discovered that liminality isn't just confined to physical or metaphysical spaces - It extends metaphorically to different stages and seasons of life we traverse! Fascinating, right?!

Let's dive into the depths of the unknown, and look at where more liminal magic resides.

The In-Betweens

Liminal spaces are not confined to mystical realms or faraway lands, they are all around us, hidden in plain sight, in the nooks and crannies of our everyday lives. Think of those moments when you find yourself standing between two worlds, on the threshold of transformation. Perhaps that’s at a train station, or when you’re taking a pause between breaths or even that comforting, intimate space between waking and dreaming. They signify growth, change, and the potential for something more

Nestled in Nature

If you step outside your front door and into nature, you'll find yourself surrounded by abundant liminal spaces. It's ever-present in the shifting seasons and the mesmerizing dance of the moon's phases. It’s on the shoreline where the waves gently meet the sand, or where the forest gives way to rolling hills. These spaces in nature offer solace, inspiration, and a profound connection to the larger tapestry of life.

Transitions and Thresholds

Life has a way of presenting us with many transitions all at once—emotional, physical, spiritual, and psychological. Whether it’s moving from childhood to adulthood, becoming a parent or exploring personal growth, these in-between spaces can feel challenging and overwhelming.

Remember, it's okay to feel a little unsettled or unsure during these times. Liminal spaces are where magic happens! Embrace the chaos because that’s where your untapped potential lives.

Blossoming Creativity

Within liminal spaces are a wellspring of creativity and inspiration indulged in regularly by artists, writers, musicians and other creative people who often tap into these realms to birth their masterpieces. I believe that it’s in the spaces between ideas, where your imagination can play and run free that true innovation is born. If you can breathe into that space and allow yourself to explore what's within you’ll watch as your passions and talents grow.

Open your eyes and notice when you enter the magical realms of liminality. They aren’t far away places or too deeply hidden that you have to search to enter. They’re found in the ordinary moments of life but hold so much beauty and power.

Embrace the discomfort, be curious and explore the unknown.

Remember, you are not alone! I’m here to walk with you, guide you and support you as you uncover your authentic life.
